to local plan inquiries and structure plan examinations.
In many cases, such planning advocacy is led by specialist planning Counsel, and we have
direct access to eminent QCs and Barristers from London and Manchester chambers.
Emerging national planning policy includes housing market assessments as relevant planning consideration,
whilst many current planning schemes relate to housing market renewal issues, regeneration and affordable housing,
In order to integrate housing assessments within our planning service, the Practice has appointed Bill Finlay
BA (Hons) BPI MRTPI ACIH as a town planner providing a specialist
perspective on housing research and policy development. His extensive experience of service development,
research and policy development has been gained over 18 years in local government housing departments in
Bolton Metropolitan Borough and Liverpool City Council.

Specialist environmental, design and construction advice is often essential to making sound
planning applications. We work with a number of outside specialists with whom we have
developed confidence that their abilities include sensitivity to town planning requirements
and to clients commercial interests.
The use of external consultant has a number of advantages to clients: the expert team
is tailored to individual cases and is not structured around in-house experts. We retain our
independence in a manner not possible in larger multi-disciplinary practices.
